Our Duropolymer skirting boards are made by Orac from Duropolymer®, a high-density, rigid material that is lighter than timber and resists knocks and dents. Every board is 2 metres long, in heights from a slim 20mm up to 250mm for rooms with tall ceilings.
Unlike MDF and softwood, Duropolymer resists moisture and won’t warp or split, so it suits kitchens, hallways and bathrooms as well as living rooms and bedrooms. The boards come primed and ready to paint, and eight profiles are also available pre-finished in RAL 9003 Signal White, ready to fit as supplied. Many have a hidden channel at the back for cables.
Profiles range from plain, modern shapes to more decorative ogee and stepped designs for period homes. Many also come in a matching flexible version for curved walls and bay windows.
Duropolymer® is Orac’s high-density material for mouldings. It is rigid and impact-resistant like timber, but lighter and more resistant to moisture, so it won’t warp or split over time.
The standard boards come primed and need painting once fitted. The RAL 9003 versions are pre-finished in Signal White, so you can fit them as they are or paint them to match your woodwork.
Yes. Many profiles have a channel at the back for lighting, speaker or data cables, so you don’t need surface trunking. Each product page says whether that profile has one.
As a guide, taller skirting suits rooms with high ceilings, such as Victorian and Edwardian homes, while lower profiles suit modern rooms with standard ceiling heights. Where you can, match the height of any existing skirting in the house.
Cut it with a fine-toothed or mitre saw and fix it to the wall with Orac DecoFix Pro on ordinary plastered walls and plasterboard in dry rooms. Use DecoFix Power instead in kitchens, bathrooms and other damp areas, on tiles or wallpaper, and for the heaviest profiles. Bond the joints with DecoFix Ultra. All three are in our lightweight adhesives range.
