Terms and Conditions

These Terms & Conditions govern the sale of products and services by Victorian Cornice Company Ltd. They apply to all purchases made through our website, by telephone, by email and in person. Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before placing an order.

We specialise in the manufacture, supply and installation of:

  • Handmade fibrous plaster mouldings
  • Decorative cornices and coving
  • Ceiling roses
  • Panel mouldings and wall panels
  • Bespoke plasterwork
  • Restoration and replication
  • Exterior mouldings
  • Orac decorative mouldings
  • Lincrusta wallcoverings

2. Orders

Orders may be placed:

  • Through our website
  • By email
  • By telephone
  • In person

An order does not become binding until accepted by Victorian Cornice Company.

We reserve the right to decline any order.

3. Quotations

All quotations are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.

Quotations are based upon the information provided at the time.

Should measurements, drawings or specifications change, we reserve the right to revise our quotation accordingly.

4. Product Information

We make every effort to ensure descriptions, dimensions and photographs are accurate.

However:

  • Colours may vary between screens.
  • Images are for illustration purposes.
  • Handmade products may vary slightly due to traditional manufacturing methods.

Minor dimensional tolerances may occur.

5. Handmade Plaster Products

Our fibrous plaster products are traditionally handmade.

As such:

  • Small pinholes
  • Minor casting marks
  • Surface blemishes
  • Hairline shrinkage marks

may be present.

These are normal characteristics of handmade plaster products and are not considered defects.

Once installed and decorated they are not normally visible.

6. Bespoke Products

Bespoke products include:

  • Matched mouldings
  • Replicated mouldings
  • Custom cornices
  • Curved mouldings
  • Special commissions

Bespoke products are manufactured specifically for each customer.

Once manufacture has commenced, bespoke orders cannot be cancelled.

7. Ownership of Moulds

Unless agreed otherwise in writing:

  • Patterns
  • Templates
  • Rubber moulds
  • Running moulds
  • CNC files
  • CAD drawings

remain the property of Victorian Cornice Company regardless of who paid the mould charge.

Mould charges contribute towards development costs only.

8. Orac Products

Orac products are supplied as manufactured.

Victorian Cornice Company does not alter or modify Orac products.

Returns are subject to our Returns & Refunds Policy.

9. Lincrusta Products

Lincrusta products are supplied in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

Installation should follow the manufacturer’s guidance.

10. Pricing

All prices are shown in Pounds Sterling (£).

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Prices exclude delivery.
  • VAT is charged at the prevailing rate.

Pricing errors may occasionally occur.

Should an obvious pricing error be identified before dispatch, we reserve the right to cancel the order and issue a full refund.

11. Payment

Payment terms will be confirmed on your quotation or invoice.

Unless agreed otherwise:

  • Website orders require payment at the time of ordering.
  • Bespoke projects may require a deposit before manufacture.
  • Installation projects may require staged payments.

Ownership of goods remains with Victorian Cornice Company until payment has been received in full.

12. Lead Times

Lead times are estimates only.

Although every effort is made to meet them, delays may occur due to:

  • Manufacturing requirements
  • Material availability
  • Weather conditions
  • Transport delays
  • Events outside our control

Lead times are not guaranteed.

13. Delivery

We deliver throughout mainland UK.

Handmade plaster products are normally delivered by our own vehicles.

Lightweight products may be delivered by specialist courier.

Delivery dates are estimates.

A delay in delivery shall not entitle the customer to cancel the order unless otherwise agreed.

14. Inspection of Goods

Customers must inspect goods upon delivery.

Any shortages or transport damage should be reported within 48 hours.

Photographs should be provided wherever possible.

Claims made after installation may not be accepted where damage was reasonably identifiable beforehand.

15. Storage

Fibrous plaster products should be:

  • Stored indoors
  • Kept dry
  • Raised off the floor
  • Stored flat
  • Protected from impact

Damage resulting from incorrect storage is not covered.

16. Installation Services

Where Victorian Cornice Company undertakes installation, customers must ensure:

  • Clear access
  • Safe working conditions
  • Adequate lighting
  • Suitable parking arrangements
  • Dry internal conditions
  • Walls and ceilings are ready for installation

Additional visits caused by the site not being ready may incur additional charges.

17. Existing Ceilings & Walls

We cannot accept responsibility for hidden defects within existing ceilings, walls or substrates.

Historic buildings may contain weak plaster, loose laths or structural movement which only becomes apparent during installation.

Any additional works required will be treated as variations.

18. Variations

Changes requested after manufacture has commenced may result in:

  • Additional charges
  • Revised lead times
  • Replacement products

Variations will be priced separately.

19. Cancellation

Standard products may be cancelled before dispatch.

Bespoke or made-to-order products cannot normally be cancelled once manufacture has begun.

Consumer cancellation rights remain unaffected where applicable.

21. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for delays or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control including but not limited to:

  • Fire
  • Flood
  • Severe weather
  • Industrial action
  • Material shortages
  • Power failure
  • Vehicle breakdown
  • Government restrictions

22. Limitation of Liability

Our liability shall not exceed the value of the goods or services supplied.

We shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect losses
  • Consequential losses
  • Loss of profit
  • Loss of business
  • Delays caused by third parties
  • Damage caused by incorrect installation by others

Nothing within these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or any liability that cannot legally be excluded.

23. Intellectual Property

All website content including:

  • Images
  • Product descriptions
  • Drawings
  • CAD files
  • Logos
  • Branding

remain the intellectual property of Victorian Cornice Company Ltd.

No material may be reproduced without written permission.

24. Website Content

Whilst we aim to ensure our website is accurate, errors may occasionally occur.

We reserve the right to amend:

  • Prices
  • Specifications
  • Product availability
  • Images
  • Technical information

without prior notice.

Your use of our website is also governed by our:

Nothing within these Terms affects your statutory rights under:

27. Commercial Customers

Where goods are supplied to businesses:

  • Time shall not be of the essence unless expressly agreed.
  • Customers must inspect goods promptly.
  • Payment must be made in accordance with agreed terms.

28. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
