Regency Cornice & Coving

The Regency period, from 1811 to 1837, took Georgian classicism and made it lighter and more graceful. Ceilings were often higher, and cornice drew on ancient Greek and Roman ornament.

Typical Regency details include Greek key (C19 and C84), honeysuckle (C29, C37 and C50), egg and dart (C20, C40 and C142), acanthus (C16 and C159), crisp fluting (C156) and fine water leaf (C112). Most of this range is handmade in fibrous plaster in our Birmingham workshop.

For a lighter option, lightweight Orac profiles such as the C201 and C219 (acanthus), C212 and C307 (egg and dart) and C304 (fluted) have a similar classical look. If you’re restoring a Regency house, see restoration and matching.
