Project: Extensive interior plasterwork refurbishment

Material: Traditional fibrous plaster & Orac mouldings
Project duration: Just over eight months

Due to the volume of work, our workshop maintained a continuous manufacturing programme while the installation team worked through the bedrooms and communal areas. The complete project took just over eight months, requiring careful coordination between manufacture, delivery and installation.

A Large-Scale Plasterwork Refurbishment

The refurbishment required a substantial quantity of handmade plaster mouldings across the bedrooms and communal areas of the club.

The project allowance included approximately 3,647 linear metres of plaster mouldings. This consisted of 405 three-metre lengths and two separate orders of 608 two-metre lengths, including the necessary allowance for cutting and wastage.

In addition, our workshop manufactured 59 R34b ceiling roses and a bespoke cornice profile for the Library Bar, Venus Room, Wren Room, The Lady in Black Room & the Reception area

Due to the scale of the project, we carefully coordinated manufacture, delivery and installation throughout the eight-month programme.

Plaster Cornice and Ceiling Roses for More Than 60 Bedrooms

Our team manufactured and installed decorative plaster cornice throughout more than 60 bedrooms at The Sloane Club.

Each room required accurate measuring, cutting and jointing to create a consistent finish across the refurbishment. The mouldings were carefully installed around corners, projections and other architectural features within the rooms.

We also supplied 59 R34b handmade plaster ceiling roses. These added a traditional focal point around the bedroom light fittings and complemented the surrounding cornice.

Decorative Plasterwork for the Entrance Hall and Function Rooms

The refurbishment also included plaster mouldings for the club’s entrance hall, function rooms and other communal areas.

These larger spaces required mouldings with suitable proportions and enough detail to complement the scale and character of the interiors. Our team manufactured the sections in our Birmingham workshop before installing and finishing them on site.

The completed plasterwork helped create a consistent decorative scheme throughout both the private rooms and shared areas of the club.

Bespoke Cornice for the Library Bar

The library bar required a cornice that could not be supplied from a standard existing profile.

We therefore developed a bespoke cornice specifically for the room. Our workshop produced the necessary mould before manufacturing the plaster sections for installation.

The finished cornice was designed to suit the proportions and character of the bar while maintaining a consistent appearance with the wider refurbishment.

Manufacturing the Plaster Mouldings

We manufactured the plaster cornice and ceiling roses in our Birmingham workshop using traditional fibrous plaster methods.

Because of the volume required, our workshop maintained a continuous production programme throughout the project. Each section was cast, checked and prepared before delivery to London.

Meanwhile, our installation team worked through the bedrooms and communal spaces. Close coordination between the workshop and site teams ensured that the project remained supplied as the refurbishment progressed.
