Origins

The modillion cornice has roots in classical architecture, particularly from the Renaissance and Neoclassical periods. Initially, builders used modillions to support overhanging eaves. However, they soon became popular decorative elements in grand buildings. For instance, iconic structures like the Palazzo Barberini in Rome showcase how modillions enhance overall architectural beauty.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, homeowners embraced modillion cornices in residential architecture throughout Europe and the United States. Furthermore, craftsmen often incorporated these ornate details into stately homes, churches, and public buildings. This practice added to the aesthetic appeal of these structures.

Why Choose a Modillion Plaster Cornice?
